“Alienation” es el nuevo disco de la banda canadiense THREE DAYS GRACE, y lo cierto es que no hay una unanimidad sobre la calificación que se le da desde la crítica. Algunos lo han considerado como el más flojo de su carrera, otros, por contra, lo han considerado como un nuevo impulso a su trayectoria.
Es cierto que el inicio del disco resulta bastante árido, con dos temas que pueden ser de los menos interesantes. No es hasta “Mayday” hasta que empiezas a entrar en su sonido post grunge y de metal alternativo.
Lo cierto es que la dupla de voces de Gontier/Walst da muy buenos resultados, pero en ocasiones soportan demasiado el peso de los temas y casi se van al pop por resultar demasiado meloso.
Personalmente me ha parecido un disco de escucha fácil para alguien que disfrute de propuestas no tan extremas y más melódicas, pero para aquellos que quieran algo más contundencia, las guitarras graves no van a ser suficientes y puede que se les quede corto.

Alienation is the new album by Canadian band THREE DAYS GRACE, and the truth is that critics are divided on how to rate it. Some consider it the weakest of their career, while others see it as a new impetus for their career.
It’s true that the beginning of the album is rather dry, with two tracks that are perhaps the least interesting. It’s not until “Mayday” that you start to get into their post-grunge and alternative metal sound.
The truth is that the Gontier/Walst vocal duo works very well, but at times they carry too much of the weight of the songs and almost veer into pop territory because they are too mellow.
Personally, I found it an easy listen for someone who enjoys less extreme and more melodic sounds, but for those who want something more forceful, the heavy guitars won’t be enough and may leave them wanting more.
