OMNIUM GATHERUM ha sido una de esas bandas que siempre han estado ahí, han sido uno de los grandes nombres de del death metal melódico pero creo que les ha faltado el reconocimiento por parte de público que se merecen para estar al mismo nivel de grandes nombres como ARCH ENEMY, IN FLAMES o DARK TRANQUILITY, y no será porque su propuesta no sea interesante.
“May the bridges we burn light my way” es su último trabajo y muestran que la etiqueta de death metal melódico se les queda corta, ya que poco a poco, disco a disco, van conformando un sonido que toma elementos de metal progresivo, del post metal, o groove o del heavy más tradicional.
Muestran su veteranía, sabiendo en qué momento meter un cambio de ritmo, un estribillo, cuando el solo debe ser más melódico o cuando una metralleta de notas o cómo alternar registros vocales.
Para quienes no hayan tenido la ocasión de escuchar a OMNIUM GATHERUM con anterioridad, creo que con “May the bridges we burn light my way” los descubrirán con uno de los mejores discos de su carrera.

OMNIUM GATHERUM has been one of those bands that has always been there, one of the big names in melodic death metal, but I think they have lacked the recognition they deserve from the public to be on the same level as big names like ARCH ENEMY, IN FLAMES, or DARK TRANQUILITY, and it’s not because their music isn’t interesting.
“May the Bridges We Burn Light My Way” is their latest work, and it shows that the label of melodic death metal falls short, as little by little, album by album, they are shaping a sound that takes elements from progressive metal, post-metal, groove, and more traditional heavy metal.
They show their experience, knowing when to change the rhythm, when to bring in a chorus, when the solo should be more melodic or when a barrage of notes is needed, and how to alternate vocal registers.
For those who have not had the opportunity to listen to OMNIUM GATHERUM before, I think that with “May the bridges we burn light my way” they will discover one of the best albums of their career.
