El cruce de caminos entre el death metal melódico y el doom es el hábitat natural de los alemanes NAILED TO OBSCURITY, el cual siguen explorando y añadiendo elementos es “Generation of the void”, marcando una evolución significativa en su propuesta sonora, alejándose del death/doom metal más crudo de sus inicios para abrazar una estética más melancólica y progresiva.
Canciones como “Glass Bleeding”, “Liquid Mourning” y “Overcast” ofrecen un balance efectivo entre agresividad y contemplación, siendo las más cercanas al sonido tradicional de la banda. Sin embargo, temas como “Spirit Corrosion” y “Allure” revelan una inclinación hacia estructuras más accesibles y melódicas.
Se notan claramente las influencias de bandas como KATATONIA, OPETH, PARADISE LOST y bandas de doom melódico del norte de Europa. Incluso en momentos la voz de Raimund Ennenga me ha querido recordar a la de Tobias Forge de GHOST.
“Generation of the void” no redefine el género, pero sí es cierto que es un paso al frente de los alemanes, pudiendo suponer un puntos de inflexión en su carrera al salirse de la crudeza de discos previos y volcándose más en la creación de atmósferas y en la emotividad.

The crossroads between melodic death metal and doom is the natural habitat of Germany’s NAILED TO OBSCURITY, which they continue to explore and add to in “Generation of the Void,” marking a significant evolution in their sound, moving away from the rawer death/doom metal of their early days to embrace a more melancholic and progressive aesthetic.
Songs such as “Glass Bleeding,” “Liquid Mourning,” and ‘Overcast’ offer an effective balance between aggression and contemplation, being the closest to the band’s traditional sound. However, tracks such as “Spirit Corrosion” and “Allure” reveal a inclination towards more accessible and melodic structures.
The influences of bands such as KATATONIA, OPETH, PARADISE LOST, and melodic doom bands from Northern Europe are clearly noticeable. At times, Raimund Ennenga’s voice even reminded me of Tobias Forge from GHOST.
“Generation of the Void” does not redefine the genre, but it is certainly a step forward for the Germans, and could mark a turning point in their career as they move away from the rawness of previous albums and focus more on creating atmospheres and emotion.
