“Pink Moon” es la nueva entrega de la banda canadiense de post-hardcore /metalcore SILVERSTEIN, la que es la segunda entrega de “Antibloom” que pudimos escuchar en febrero de este año.

El disco mantiene la línea compositiva de SILVERSTEIN de su precedente disco, con momentos de enorme efusividad, reforzados con brutales breaks. Pero también hay momentos en los que esas subidas y bajadas de intensidad me llegaron a resultar previsibles y, por momentos, desconcertantes. Quizás se ha abusado en exceso de la capacidad de Shane Told para cambiar de registro. Puede que el resultado caótico que buscan sea demasiado para algunos.

Otro aspecto que destacaría es que, siendo una banda que trabaja las guitarras en planos muy graves, en la producción he echado en falta más contundencia de los mismos, quedándose un sonido bastante plano en su conjunto, notándose ese detalle sobre todo en los momentos de disrupción de los estribillos.

SILVERSTEIN llevan mucho años haciendo discos de calidad, y aunque puede que éste no sea el mejor de su discografía, su atrevido proyecto está entre los mejores del año.

Pink Moon is the new release from Canadian post-hardcore/metalcore band SILVERSTEIN, the second installment of Antibloom, which we heard in February this year.

The album maintains SILVERSTEIN’s compositional style from their previous album, with moments of enormous effusiveness, reinforced with brutal breaks. But there are also moments when these ups and downs in intensity seemed predictable and, at times, disconcerting to me. Perhaps Shane Told’s ability to change registers has been overused. The chaotic result they are aiming for may be too much for some.

Another aspect I would highlight is that, for a band that works with very low-pitched guitars, I found the production lacking in forcefulness, resulting in a rather flat sound overall, which is especially noticeable in the moments of disruption in the choruses.

SILVERSTEIN have been making quality albums for many years, and although this may not be the best in their discography, their daring project is among the best of the year.
