La banda holandesa TEXTURES, después de un prolongado silencio, han vuelto al ruedo con el disco “Genotype” como continuación de su disco precedente “Phenotype”.
Etiquetados como una banda de metalcore, lo cierto es que a medida que su discografía avanza, cada vez me resulta más difícil considerarlos dentro de ese estilo, siendo el componente de metal progresivo el que va comiendo terreno en la definición de la personalidad de la banda.
De hecho, los sintetizadores son un elemento recurrente en “Genotype” y la voz de Danie de Jongh dista mucho de él patrón de cantante de metalcore que prolifera en el panorama actual.
Lo más destacable son los cambios de estructura de las composiciones… un punto más en favor del progresivo.
TEXTURES se han hecho esperar, pero “Genotype” ha colmado mis expectativas sobradamente.

After a long silence, Dutch band TEXTURES have returned to the scene with the album «Genotype,» the follow-up to their previous album «Phenotype.»
Labeled as a metalcore band, the truth is that as their discography progresses, I find it increasingly difficult to consider them within that style, with the progressive metal component gaining ground in defining the band’s personality.
In fact, synthesizers are a recurring element in «Genotype,» and Danie de Jongh’s voice is far from the metalcore singer pattern that proliferates in today’s scene.
Most notable are the changes in the structure of the compositions… another point in favor of progressive metal.
TEXTURES have kept us waiting, but «Genotype» has more than fulfilled my expectations.
