[ENGLISH VERSION]
AGAINST THE WAVES have released what, in my opinion, may be the best metalcore/modern metal album of the year in Spain, and one has to wonder if it might even rank among the top 10 worldwide.
On “Survivalism,” the Madrid-based band has hit the nail on the head by composing tracks that skillfully alternate between frenzied passages and more reflective moments, both instrumentally and vocally, thanks to flawless delivery on the clean vocals.
The influence of Christoph Wieczoreck from ANNISOKAY is evident in the band’s achievement of a sound characteristic of Central European metalcore bands—with forceful, punchy drumming but crystal-clear clarity in the mix.
AGAINST THE WAVES are making a strong statement to establish themselves as pillars of contemporary metal on a national level and to set their sights beyond our borders, where their sound is sure to be well received.
