Empezando a bocajarro, creo que este “The tide of death and fractured dreams” de los británicos INGESTED puede ser uno de los discos más destacables del año para los que les guste el technical death metal.
Este séptimo trabajo es la consolidación de una de las bandas referencia en el estilo gracias a la perfecta conjunción del muro vocal que genera con sus guturales abisales Jason Evans y las aplastantes guitarras, en una muestra de que potencia y musicalidad no son términos antagónicos y que su coexistencia no sólo es posible, sino que puede generar resultados excelentes.
En líneas generales hablamos de temas en los que se aplica aquello de que “la fuerza sin control no sirve de nada”, pues la parte instrumental no se desboca en una locura de riffs, ni la voz tampoco se limita a soltar un repertorio de distintos tipos de guturales, sino que prima una melodía que es la que marca la línea a seguir. De hecho, en “Where no lights shines”, “Expected to fail” y “A path once lost” casi podría deciros que me ha sonado más a un grupo de Groove como LAMB OF GOD, más que a death metal.
La calidad técnica de todos los componentes se muestra en cada corte, siendo los puntos álgidos el tema instrumental “Numinous” para las guitarras, y la citada “A path once lost” para el bajo y la voces. La verdad es que este disco es un derroche de talento y técnica lo escuches por donde lo escuhes.
Menos mal que 2024 iba a ser un año flojo…

Beginning point-blank, I think that this «The tide of death and fractured dreams» by the British INGESTED can be one of the most outstanding albums of the year for those who like technical death metal.
This seventh work is the consolidation of one of the reference bands in the style thanks to the perfect conjunction of the vocal wall generated by Jason Evans with his abyssal gutturals and the crushing guitars, in a proof that power and musicality are not antagonistic terms and that their coexistence is not only possible, but can generate excellent results.
In general terms, we are talking about songs in which the saying «power without control is useless» applies, since the instrumental part does not go wild with riffs, and the voice is not limited to a repertoire of different types of gutturals, but the melody is the one that marks the line to follow. In fact, in «Where no lights shines», «Expected to fail» and «A path once lost» I could almost say that it sounded more like a groove band like LAMB OF GOD, rather than death metal.
The technical quality of all the members is shown in each track, being the highlights the instrumental «Numinous» for guitars, and the aforementioned «A path once lost» for bass and vocals. The truth is that this album is a waste of talent and technique wherever you listen to it.
