KATATONIA, una de mis bandas de Doom predilectas ha publicado âNightmares as extension of the waking stateâ, el cual esperaba con muchĂsimas ganas despuĂ©s de su anterior y excelente disco âSky voids of starsâ.
De los adelantos y de la primera escucha percibĂ el carĂĄcter progresivo que ha caracterizado a KATATONIA frente al resto de bandas de Doom, pero reconozco que me parecieron temas de desarrollo largo que no llegaban a culminar en un momento de clĂmax. En escuchas mĂĄs pausadas, percibĂ el excepcional trabajo compositivo e instrumental, arropada por la caracterĂstica voz de Jonas Renkse.
Efectivamente, si estĂĄis buscando coros Ă©picos y pegadizos, aquĂ no los vais a encontrar, âNightmares as an extensiĂłn of waking stateâ va mĂĄs allĂĄ y tiene como propĂłsito generar atmĂłsferas y estado reflexivos en quien los escucha.

KATATONIA, one of my favorite Doom bands has released «Nightmares as an extension of waking state», which I was really looking forward to after their previous and excellent album «Sky voids of stars».
From the previews and from the first listen I perceived the progressive character that has characterized KATATONIA in front of the rest of Doom bands, but I admit that they seemed to me themes of long development that did not culminate in a moment of climax. On slower listens, I perceived the exceptional compositional and instrumental work, wrapped by the characteristic voice of Jonas Renkse.
Indeed, if you are looking for epic and catchy choruses, you are not going to find them here, «Nightmares as an extension of waking state» goes further and aims to generate reflective atmospheres and states in the listener.
