Como habréis podido escuchar en los distintos programas de Hörns Üp de Juanma que hemos ido teniendo desde finales de 2023 e inicios de 2024, ha habido un grupo que ha ido estando presente de manera casi constante… han estado a punto de ser una banda residente de HUP. LUTHARO, nos ha ido adelantando buena parte de su “Chasing euphoria” single tras single y cada vez que se han asomado, han recibido un aluvión de birras, y es que su propuesta de death metal melódico bien las merece.
Para los que no tengan mucha información de la historia de LUTHARO, son una banda canadiense formada en 2014 que desde sus primeros EP y su álbum debut “Hiraeth” han mostrado un gusto enorme a la hora de combinar sonidos más extremos como el thrash o el death melódico con el heavy metal más tradicional o incluso el power. Gran parte de esa versatilidad residen en las capacidades de su vocalista Krista Shipperbottom y la guitarra de Victor Bucur. Realmente parece increíble lo que Krista tiene en la garganta y su capacidad camaleónica para adaptarse a los distintos estilos que se pueden llegar a manejar en un mismo corte.
“Chasing euphoria” mantiene esa línea y en temas como “Time to rise”, “Bonded to the Blade”, “Creating a King” se puede percibir especialmente la fusión de estilos, con un resultado tremendamente contundente a la vez que melódico.
Una vez escuchado el disco en su totalidad, me entran unas enormes ganas de ver cómo resolverá la banda sus directos con tres instrumentos, pues hay muchas guitarras armonizadas y guitarras rítmicas que acompañan los solos, pero en todo caso, y es de lo que hablamos ahora, “Chasing euphoria” es un disco de los que estaremos hablando durante mucho tiempo y que pondremos en el top de final de año con toda seguridad.

As you could have heard in the different programs of Juanma’s Hörns Üp that we have been having since the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024, there has been a group that has been present almost constantly… they have been close to being a resident band of HUP. LUTHARO, has been advancing us a good part of their «Chasing euphoria» single after single and every time they have been present, they have received a flood of beers, and their melodic death metal proposal deserves it.
For those who don’t have much information about the history of LUTHARO, they are a Canadian band formed in 2014 that since their first EP and their debut album «Hiraeth» have shown a huge taste when it comes to combining more extreme sounds such as thrash or melodic death with the more traditional heavy metal or even power. Much of that versatility lies in the capabilities of their vocalist Krista Shipperbottom and the guitar playing of Victor Bucur. It really seems incredible what Krista has in her throat and her chameleonic capacity to adapt to the different styles that can be managed in the same cut.
«Chasing euphoria» keeps that line and in songs like «Time to rise», «Bonded to the Blade», «Creating a King» you can especially perceive the fusion of styles, with a tremendously forceful and melodic result.
Having listened to the album in its entirety, I am eager to see how the band will solve their live performances with three instruments, as there are many harmonized guitars and rhythm guitars that accompany the solos, but in any case, and this is what we are talking about now, «Chasing euphoria» is an album that we will be talking about for a long time and that we will put in the top of the end of the year for sure.
