En la serie de reseñas de “No te acostarás sin descubrir un grupo más”, vamos a dedicar unas líneas a SCHAMMASCH, un grupo suizo formado en 2009, que ha ido evolucionando y añadiendo componentes de varios géneros del metal, que de sus orígenes en el black metal ha derivado a su sonido actual, que dista mucho de esa raíz. Para hacernos una idea, su sonido me ha recordado mucho al “Something wicked this way” de los míticos ICED EARTH, sobre todo por la presencia del bajo, que es el que marca la melodía de base de los temas.
Evidentemente, “The Maldoror chants: old ocean” es un proyecto que mira de soslayo a las etiquetas y se limita a trasladar el mensaje de la obra poética del Conde de Latreamount, en la que desprecia la naturaleza humana y al Creador que lo engendró. Muy black metal.
El disco se compone de cortes de larga duración, por lo que recomiendo dejarse llevar e impregnarse del espíritu que emana de sus pistas.

In the series of reviews of “You won’t go to bed without discovering one more band”, we are going to dedicate a few lines to SCHAMMASCH, a Swiss band formed in 2009, which has been evolving and adding components from various genres of metal, which from its origins in black metal has derived to its current sound, which is far from that root. To get an idea, their sound reminded me a lot of “Something wicked this way” by the legendary ICED EARTH, especially for the presence of the bass, which is the one that marks the basic melody of the songs.
Evidently, “The Maldoror chants: old ocean” is a project that looks down on labels and limits itself to transfer the message of the poetic work of the Count of Latreamount, in which he despises human nature and the Creator that engendered him. Very black metal.
The album is composed of full-length tracks, so I recommend to let yourself go and soak up the spirit that emanates from its tracks.
