SPIRITBOX – Tsunami sea, 2025. - Horns Up Metal Podcast 🤘

Reconozco que mi aproximación al último disco de SPIRITBOX, “ Tsunami sea”, ha estado rodeada de un compendio de todas las técnicas modernas de comunicación, empezando por el clickbait, pasando por las redes sociales y terminando por la referencia a la nueva divinidad: la inteligencia artificial.

Desde hace meses se están calentando motores con el lanzamiento de la banda canadiense de metalcore y por fin ha llegado el momento de la escucha.

De primeras, es un disco que me ha requerido llegar hasta el tercer tema para empezar a sumergirme por completo, que es donde SPIRITBOX empieza a desplegar su talento con los medios tiempos como “Keep sweet”, “Tsunami sea” o “Crystal Roses”. Pero en el caso de los temas de corte más potente, no me han terminado de enganchar o, mejor dicho, aportar más de lo que me han aportado otros discos de metalcore.

El disco es de buena escucha, pero creo que ha venido precedido de demasiado bombo y boato.

I admit that my approach to SPIRITBOX’s latest album, «Tsunami sea», has been surrounded by a compendium of all modern communication techniques, starting with clickbait, passing through social networks and ending with the reference to the new divinity: artificial intelligence.

For months now the engines have been warming up with the release of the Canadian metalcore band and finally the time has come to listen to it.

At first, it is an album that required me to get to the third track to begin to immerse myself completely, which is where SPIRITBOX begins to display their talent with mid-tempos like «Keep sweet», «Tsunami sea» or «Crystal Roses». But in the case of the more powerful songs, they haven’t really hooked me or, better said, they don’t contribute more than other metalcore albums have done.

The album is a good listen, but I think it has been preceded by too much hype.
