Los noruegos BLOOD RED THRONE celebran sus 26 años de trayectoria con un nuevo trabajo llamado “Nonagon”, un disco conceptual que toma como referencia los nueve círculos concéntricos del tormento descritos en el “Infierno” de Dante.

La banda formada por el ex SATYRICON Daniel “Død” Olaisen en 1996, vuelve con otra descarga apabullante de death metal, aunque el macho cabrío tira al monte y podemos ver elementos propios del black metal old school con múltiples blast beast y trémolos en las guitarras.

La principal novedad que diferencia a este disco del anterior es el nuevo fichaje en las voces de Sindre Wathne Johnsen en sustitución de Yngve «Bolt» Christiansen, lo cual aporta unos growls tan graves que parecen sacados de las profundidades de una boca de metro, lo cual combina a su antojo con gritos mucho más agudos propios también del black metal.

Ellos califican su trabajo como death metal, si bien a medida que vamos adentrándonos en los nueve cortes, cada vez se nota más ese retrogusto black metal, con muchos más elementos melódicos de lo que suele uno encontrarse en grupos de death al uso. También hay que decir que el black metal es ya un black actualizado, sin ser tan extremo como ocurría con sus manifestaciones primigenias allá por los 90.

Con “Nonagon”, los de Daniel Olaisen muestran que siguen dando el callo y que todavía tienen carrete para rato, siendo un trabajo que seguro gustará a los oyentes habituales de la banda.

Norwegians BLOOD RED THRONE celebrate their 26 years of career with a new work called «Nonagon», a concept album that takes as a reference the nine concentric circles of torment described in Dante’s «Inferno».

The band formed by ex-SATYRICON Daniel «Død» Olaisen in 1996, returns with another overwhelming death metal discharge, although the goat pulls the mountain and we can see elements of old school black metal with multiple blast beasts and tremolos in the guitars.

The main novelty that differentiates this album from the previous one is the new signing on vocals of Sindre Wathne Johnsen replacing Yngve «Bolt» Christiansen, which brings growls so low that seem to be taken from the depths of a subway mouth, which combines at will with much higher pitched screams also typical of black metal.

They define their work as death metal, although as we go deeper into the nine tracks, we notice more and more that black metal aftertaste, with many more melodic elements than what we usually finds in death bands. It must also be said that black metal is already an updated black metal, without being as extreme as it was in its original manifestations back in the 90s.

With «Nonagon», Daniel Olaisen’s band shows that they are still going strong and that they still have a long career, being a work that will surely please the usual listeners of the band.
