Una de las primeras reseñas que hice para HUP fue la de este proyecto internacional con base en Bielorrusia con Artyom Prishchepov al frente llamado EVOKING WINDS, y que basa su temática en el folclore de Centro Europa. El año pasado hablamos de su “Bald mountain” que me causó una grata sensación. Pues como por sorpresa, nos hemos encontrado con la publicación de este “Your rivers”, ya que no tenía noticias de que fueran a sacar nuevo material, sobre todo porque estos proyectos tienen la dificultad de coordinar a todos sus participantes ubicados a los largo del planeta.
“Your rivers” narra las historias de los personajes de la saga “The Witcher”, a través de sus guerras, enlaces y romances y nos reencontramos con sus black metal atmosférico pero en esta ocasión me ha parecido un trabajo mucho más redondo y compacto que el anterior. A grandes rasgos, el disco no tiene ningún altibajo ni ninguna pista que pueda hacer perder intensidad a la escucha que, por razones de la narración, hay que hacer seguida, pero es que hay temas muy, pero que muy sobresalientes, como “Lilac and Gosseberries”, “Time of contempt” o “Dagger, Wood and fire” que hacen que “Yourrivers” supera con creces su anterior trabajo. Además, en este trabajo no se he hecho tanto uso de las partes ambientales ni narraciones, por lo que es un trabajo mucho más dinámico.
Como colofón, las voces no se centran tanto en el gutural, sino que las voces melódicas femeninas o masculinas adquieren un papel mucho más relevante, lo que permite que la escucha no resulte tan monótona.
EVOKING WINDS se han superado con este trabajo. Sólo queda esperar que sigan siendo tan prolíficos como hasta ahora.

One of the first reviews I did for HUP was of this international project based in Belarus with Artyom Prishchepoval at the helm called EVOKING WINDS, which its lyrics are based on Central European folklore. Last year we talked about his «Bald mountain» which caused me a pleasant sensation. Well, as if by surprise, we have found the publication of this «Your rivers», since I had no news that they were going to release new material, especially because these projects have the difficulty of coordinating all its participants located throughout the planet.
«Your rivers» tells the stories of the characters of the saga «The Witcher», through their wars, links and romances and we meet again with their atmospheric black metal but this time I found it a much more rounded and compact work than the previous one. Roughly speaking, the album has no ups and downs or any track that could make you lose intensity while listening, which, for narrative reasons, must be followed, but there are very, very outstanding tracks, such as «Lilac and Gosseberries», «Time of contempt» or «Dagger, Wood and fire» that make «Your rivers» surpasses by far their previous work. In addition, in this work I have not made so much use of the ambient parts or narrations, so it is a much more dynamic work.
To top it off, the vocals are not so much focused on the guttural, but the melodic female or male voices acquire a much more relevant role, which allows the listening not to be so monotonous.
EVOKING WINDS have surpassed themselves with this work. We can only hope that they continue to be as prolific as they have been so far.
