CYHRA – Requiem for a pipe dream, 2026.

La superbanda formada por el guitarrista Jesper Strömblad (THE HALO EFFECT y ex IN FLAMES), el cantante Jake E (ex AMARANTHE), el batería Alex Landenburg (KAMELOT) y el guitarrista Euge Valovirta (ex SHINING) han publicado un nuevo trabajo como corolario a sus diez años de colaboración bajo el título de “Requiem for a pipe dream”, en el que hay muy buenos temas para aquellos que disfruten del metal moderno.

En el disco podemos identificar diversos pasajes en los que la personalidad compositiva de cada uno prevalece sobre el conjunto, pero me atrevería a decir que el sonido KAMELOT ha arrimado más el ascua a su sardina, en la que batería de Alex es la que hace el acompañamiento a la voz, lo cual es algo diferente y realmente interesante.

Esa confluencia de talentos hace que la identidad del disco se puede ver un poco mermada, pero insisto en que “Requiem for a pipe dream” contiene temas muy buenos, aunque no mantengan tanta relación unos con otros.

The supergroup formed by guitarist Jesper Strömblad (THE HALO EFFECT and formerly of IN FLAMES), singer Jake E (formerly of AMARANTHE), drummer Alex Landenburg (KAMELOT), and guitarist Euge Valovirta (formerly of SHINING) has released a new album to mark their ten years of collaboration, titled “Requiem for a Pipe Dream,” which features some excellent tracks for fans of modern metal.

Throughout the album, there are several passages where each member’s compositional style takes precedence over the ensemble, but I’d venture to say that the KAMELOT sound has had the upper hand, with Alex’s drumming providing the backing for the vocals—which is a bit different and truly interesting.

This convergence of talents does make the album’s identity seem a bit diluted, but I insist that “Requiem for a Pipe Dream” contains some excellent tracks, even if they aren’t all closely related to one another.
