Desde hace unos años el nombre de INFECTED RAIN es una de las referencias dentro del Groove metal junto a bandas como JINJER, ambas con la peculiaridad de proceder de países de que salen del eje centro europeo y anglosajón del que estamos acostumbrados.

En esta reseña hablaremos del nuevo trajo de los moldavos, que a principios del mes de febrero han vuelto con “Time”, un disco con el que la banda muestra su intención de seguir en la picota del panorama del metal internacional.

Como nos tienen acostumbrados, gran parte de su personalidad recae en Lena Scissorshands, su vocalista, que vuelve a darnos un recital de versatilidad, pudiendo pasar como quien no quiere la cosa de los false chords más salvajes, a voces limpísimas sin solución de continuidad.

Este trabajo me ha resultado mucho más interesante que su predecesor “Ecdysis”, puesto que “Time” podría casi considerarse un álbum de metal progresivo, ya que hay de todo un poco: bases rítmicas propias de djent, estribillos de death metal melódico, arreglos de industrial, pasajes con aire folk… un auténtico derroche de creatividad. Pero lo mejor de todo es que en ningún caso los temas suenan como deslavazados, que esto es un riesgo que se corre cuando quieres mezclar muchos estilos dentro de un disco (o del mismo tema): que cada uno es de su padre y de su madre y falta una identidad de conjunto. Aquí no, aunque haya requiebros y cambios, es perfectamente reconocible que estamos ante un disco de INFECTED RAIN.

Me ha parecido especialmente destacable el sonido del bajo de Alice Lane, que marca rotundamente la fuerza y empasta perfectamente en la mezcla con el bombo de la batería sin difuminarse en exceso.

Creo que este disco mejora el anterior y puede estar con facilidad entre los 100 mejores de este año.

Since a few years ago the name INFECTED RAIN is one of the references within Groove metal along with bands like JINJER, both with the peculiarity of coming from countries that are out of the central European and Anglo-Saxon axis we are used to.

In this review we will be talking about the new album of the Moldavians, who at the beginning of February have returned with «Time», an album with which the band shows their intention to remain on the top of the international metal scene.

As we are used to, much of their personality lies in Lena Scissorshands, their vocalist, who once again gives us a recital of versatility, being able to go from the wildest false chrods to the cleanest vocals without interruption.

I found this work much more interesting than its predecessor «Ecdysis», because «Time» could almost be considered a progressive metal album, as there is a bit of everything: djent rhythmic bases, melodic death metal choruses, industrial arrangements, folk-like passages… a true abundance of creativity. But the best of all is that in no case do the themes sound disjointed, which is a risk you run when you want to mix many styles within an album (or the same theme): that each one is different and lacks an overall identity. Not here, although there are changes and changes, it is perfectly recognizable that we are in front of an INFECTED RAIN album.

I found particularly remarkable the sound of Alice Lane’s bass, which marks the strength and fits perfectly in the mix with the bass drum without blurring too much.

I think this album is better than the previous one and can easily be among the top 100 of this year.
