LIAR THIEF BANDIT – Icon, 2024 - Horns Up Metal Podcast 🤘

El camino del rock está repleto de piedras y baches que las bandas tienen que ir superando poco a poco, y muchas de ellas no pueden aguantar esta sucesión de retos y se van cayendo por la cuneta. Cuando una banda como LIAR THIEF BANDIT llega a su cuarto disco, con una filosofía de autoproducción, es decir, sin grandes discográficas ni oficinas de managment que les respalde, resulta doblemente meritorio. No hablemos ya si se decantan por trabajar sonidos de rock clásico lejanos de modas y del mainstream.

Para que os hagáis una idea de las agallas de estos suecos, se formaron en 2014 y con su álbum de debut “Gun Shovel Alibi” se echaron a la carretera como si no fuera a haber un mañana para darse a conocer y ya en 2021 sacaron su segundo trabajo. Poco se atreven a hacer esto…

“Icon” es una descarga no sólo de rock, sino de talento en todos y cada una de sus once pistas, empezando con una fuerza tremenda con “The ultimate sing” y que se mantiene a lo largo de disco, con algunos altos en el camino como “It all goes away in the end”, pero con un nivel de revoluciones bastante interesante en todo caso.

El conjunto del sonido recuerda a distintas vertientes de rock, con momentos en los que la potencia de bajo hace que tengan un sonido muy garage, y en otras casi suena a stoner rock. La clave de todo el trabajo, y que es lo que lo hace excelente, son las melodías que consiguen que sus temas se hagan especialmente pegadizos.

Señoras y señores, si el camino del rock les es propicio, LIAR THIEF BANDIT prometen deleitarnos con una carrera repleta de buenas canciones, pero por lo pronto, ya nos han conquistado con este “Icon”.

The rock road is full of stones and obstacles that bands have to overcome little by little, and many of them can not withstand this succession of challenges and fall into the ditch. When a band like LIAR THIEF BANDIT reaches its fourth album, with a philosophy of self-production, that is, without major labels or management offices that support them, it is doubly meritorious. Let aside if they choose to work with classic rock sounds far away from fashions and the mainstream.

To give you an idea of the guts of these Swedes, they formed in 2014 and with their debut album “Gun Shovel Alibi” they hit the road as if there would be no tomorrow to make themselves known and already in 2021 they released their second work. Little do they dare to do this….

“Icon” is a download not only of rock, but of talent in each and every one of its eleven tracks, starting with a tremendous force with “The ultimate sing” and that is maintained throughout the album, with some highs along the way as “It all goes away in the end”, but with a level of revolutions quite interesting in any case.

The whole sound is reminiscent of different strands of rock, with moments in which the bass power makes them have a very garage sound, and in others it almost sounds like stoner rock. The key of the whole work, and that is what makes it excellent, are the melodies that make their songs especially catchy.

Ladies and gentlemen, if the path of rock is propitious to them, LIAR THIEF BANDIT promise to delight us with a career full of good songs, but for the time being, they have already conquered us with this “Icon”.
