MACHINE HEAD – Unatøned, 2025. - Horns Up Metal Podcast 🤘

MACHINE HEAD, los que fueron los amos del groove metal hace unas décadas, está claro que no han pasado por sus mejores momentos compositivos con sus tres últimos trabajos.

Los adelantos de “Unatøned” tampoco prometían un futuro mucho más halagüeño, con composiciones bastante alejadas del mítico “Blackening”, y eso que uno pensaba que la renovación casi completa de la banda y el tiempo transcurrido desde el “Catharsis” habría servido recobrar fuerzas y refrescar las ideas.

Ahora que tenemos el disco completo puedo decir que me ha resultado mejor de lo que esperaba, pero que sigue muy lejos de lo uno esperaría y que si no viniera bajo la marca “MACHINE HEAD” muy probablemente habría pasado desapercibido y poco habríamos dicho de él

“Unatøned” sigue sonando como el disco de una banda que está intentando reencontrase a sí misma, aunque en este caso afecte especialmente a Robb Flynn, cabeza de proyecto.

MACHINE HEAD, who were the masters of groove metal a few decades ago, have clearly not gone through their best compositional moments with their last three albums.

The previews of “Unatøned” didn’t promise a much more flattering future either, with compositions quite far from the mythical “Blackening”, and one thought that the almost complete renewal of the band and the time elapsed since “Catharsis” would have served to regain strength and refresh the ideas.

Now that we have the complete album I can say that it has been better than I expected, but it is still far from what one would expect and that if it didn’t come under the “MACHINE HEAD” brand it would probably have gone unnoticed and we would have said little about it.

“Unatøned” still sounds like the album of a band that is trying to find itself again, even if in this case it affects especially Robb Flynn, head of the project.
