[ENGLISH VERSION]
Hailing from cold Finland, BRYMIR has released their album “What We Leave Behind,” which I found to be a very elaborate work in which they’ve skillfully combined various musical influences under the umbrella of melodic death metal.
As I mentioned, the foundation of this album is melodic death metal with elements reminiscent of atmospheric black metal, but featuring instrumental arrangements and backing vocals that inevitably bring to mind symphonic and power metal. Furthermore, thanks to the keyboards and synthesizers, the final result offers a refreshing touch that’s much appreciated in this genre.
Along with its compositional brilliance, “What We Leave Behind” is also a technical showcase in many moments, thanks to both the drum’s blast beats and the diverse guitar techniques.
Compared to BRYMIR’s previous works, this album demonstrates a higher level of polish than its predecessors and may well be their best release to date.
