[ENGLISH VERSION]
To talk about Viking metal is to talk about AMON AMARTH, since—even though they weren’t the first band to draw on Viking mythology and culture—they’ve maintained the same compositional style for several decades, making them the benchmark band.
Over the years, they’ve had to rise to the challenge of keeping their listeners engaged, and their latest album, “The Allfather Awakens,” demonstrates how the band can maintain its identity without growing stale. There are tracks with a strong folk influence—both electric and acoustic—while others hover on the edge of melodic death metal.
I find it hard to classify this album within AMON AMARTH’s overall discography, but it certainly won’t disappoint those who are already familiar with the band.
